WoooHoo for Monday Made it!

Yay for Monday Made It!
I'm not sure if this linky party is a good thing for me, since I keep buying new items to complete other projects.  It is NOT good on the bank account, however I am enjoying making fun and cute projects for my new classroom makeover!!! I can't help it!

Project #1:  This week I wrapped up the curtains I made to hide the open shelving in my classroom.  Here are some pictures of them up!

Project #2: I made some buckets to hold my pens and markers up at the front of my classroom. I found the buckets already in the color I wanted at Michael's for $0.70 each on clearance!!!  I couldn't find any cute flowers to add, so I had to spend $5 on these two! Wow, I couldn't believe how expensive they were, but I love the buckets!

Project #3:  These "pizza pans" don't look like much now, but I sprayed 5 of them, 3 lime green and 2 hot pink and added some ribbon to hang up.  I am going to use them with magnets for the kids to choose their Daily 5/Center round each day!  Hopefully they will work for what I want!  Once my SmartBoard gets put back up in my new room these will go under it (I'll post final pictures when my classroom is done!)

Project #4:  This is my half done project.  I forgot to bring my screw driver to school to take the back off this chair in order to recover it. So from this picture you see the half "before" and the final bottom of my chair.  The material matches the curtains.

Project #5:  I finally made some bunting to hang over my windows.  These are some pictures of part of it! I can't wait to hang it up.  Anyone have any suggestions of how to hang it???

That is all for now.  The rest of my week consists of 3 days of regional test making, finishing more "curtains" and fabric to go around an ugly cupboard and a round table!  Then we are off to North Carolina on Saturday for a week!!!! YAY!!!

Another Monday Made it!

I am super excited to be linking up again with Tara from 4th Grade Frolics for another Monday Made It!  ( I would have linked up earlier today, my I crazily pulled my darling little girls around for a 2 mile bike ride in the heat... yes I am crazy!!)

This week I have been working on a ton of common core curriculum "stuff" and trying to plan out my first novel, "Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing".  I am also still trying to figure out how to incorporate aspects of the Daily 5, CAFE, and The Book Whisperer into my new classroom.

And about that new classroom, I received an email the 1st week of July saying my classroom was clean and all my stuff had been moved, except now they are waxing/cleaning the floors and I can't get to it!  I have sooo much stuff to do in there before September, and I know it is still only July, but at the end of this week I have two planning days, regional curriculum days next week to attend, then our vacay to North Carolina, then my coaching starts mid August.  After that I only have half days and I would still like to spend time with my girls.  Phew!!! I can't believe that school will be here before we know it! Anyway, on to my projects for the week:

Project #1:
I created a WELCOME sign, inspired by Tara at 4th Grade Frolics, except that I used scrapbook paper and those awesome sticky letters from my Cricut machine!!!  I laminated them and then used cute ribbon to attach.  I can't wait to hang it up outside my door!!!
(My phone really isn't taking very good pictures... the colors are hot pink, hot green, and black... my new classroom colors!!!)

Project #2:
I have been working on making those Sterlite plastic containers cuter, but since they are stuck in my classroom this project isn't finished!  Here are the sheets that will go in the front of the drawers.  I made 3 sets, one for each of my classes.  The kiddos will turn in their work in these drawers.

Project #3:
I ordered large plastic containers to but the kiddos' writing folders in, so I made a couple of quick labels to go on the outside for each section of my ELA classes.

That is it for today's Monday Made It!! I am still working on more curtains for the ugly cupboards and then onto some picture frames... as long as the girls take a good nap today!!!   Thanks for stopping by!

Yay for another Made it Monday!!!

I am linking up again with Tara from 4th Grade Frolics for another Made it Monday!  Thank you so much Tara for this great idea.  It has really made me get some things done over my summer vacation.

This week I was very busy and crafted (is that a word??) a bunch of items and still have a bunch that aren't done.  I am busily trying to get the crafty items done in the next week or so in order to start working on creating my new curriculum.  We will see if this works!!! Crossing my fingers that I can stay organized and on top of my to do list AND do some fun things this summer with my girls.

Here is what I was up to this week (Sorry the pictures aren't very good):

Project #1:

I bought some more letters to spell the word READ.  This time I found letters at Michael's for about $1.  What a deal!! Unfortunately I couldn't find green ones to match the pinkish colored ones, so I bought some spray paint and sprayed two hot pink and two hot green so they would match my classroom.  Here is the finished product:

Project #2:
My next project was to make a new rule posters. I was inspired by some Pinterest ideas of having each rule on a separate circle.  Here they are without ribbon that I will be adding once my classroom is organized.  (I haven't decided where to put them yet, since my new SmartBoard hasn't been installed yet)

Project #3:
Another project was making some new pillows.  I bought some sheets from Walmart and but them to fit pillows from JoAnn's that my mom gave me before she moved to North Carolina this summer.  I actually sewed them myself without too much difficulty since I haven't sewed since I was a teenager.  My VERY crafty mom was very proud and I only had to call her 3 times to figure out how to unjam the sewing machine!!!

Project #4:
I made a mailbox for my desk for notes from students.  (It still needs something around the knob to open the door, since my cutting a hole in the paper didn't turn out so good.)  Otherwise I think it is cute!!!

Project #5: (work in progress....)
I am also working on "curtains" to cover some open cupboards along the edge of my windows as well as recovering some chairs and a stool.  I bought the wrong staples so I am back to Home Depot this week to get the right ones and then to JoAnns for more material since I ran out.  Here is a peek at the material:

The Book Whisperer

Just a quick post since I should be going to bed already!!  I am so excited to have just finished "The Book Whisperer"!!!!!!!!!!! Wow, what a great book!

Has anyone else out there read this amazing book?  If so, have you implemented any of the ideas in your own classroom.  Since this year I am only teaching ELA, I can start fresh and am looking for ideas to incorporate some of these ideas as well as The Daily 5 and CAFE.

Yay for Monday Made It!!!!

I am linking up to Tara's Made it Monday!!!!!!!!!!!

Can you tell I couldn't wait for Monday to come??? Well of course, this WON'T happen when school starts! I have been busy planning lots of crafty things for my new updated classroom, plus today I got an email saying I could go into my room since it is cleaned AND moved!!! Yay!  My teacher friends will think I am crazy, but I love my job and can't wait to redecorate!  Anyway, here is what I have been up to! (Sorry the pictures aren't that great)

After being inspired by Tara's "Believe" sign, I had to make my own with my name on it to hang on my classroom door!  I bought an 8 x 10 piece of canvas, used my Cricut to cut circles, and then ran the sticky paper (again I LOVE it) through the Cricut and just peeled off the letters for my name.  Of course, then I used Mod Podge and then attached ribbon.  The finished product:

Love it!!!!!

My other project was the popular pinned "READ" letters decorated.  Since I am only going to be teaching reading this year, I thought they would look cute in my room.  I bought the letters from Michael's and used scrapbook paper to match my new colors.  I then used Mod Podge too.   I think I still need to add something to them since they are a little plain, so I'll be on the lookout for something.  The finished product:

Show Me Sunday

I am linking up with 3-6 Free Resources Show Me Sunday Linky Party  AND Surfin' Through Second which are both all about Classroom Themes!

surfin' Through Second

I am so excited to be creating a new classroom theme this year since I have a new room.
I am doing a color theme including hot pink, hot green, and black.  I have been purchasing items here and there (Target, Walmart, Dollar Tree) to match my classroom as long as creating all of those creative items I haven't had time to do during the school year.  My recent online purchases were from:
MPM School Supplies

New borders:
Trimmer Deep Pink

New letters (even though I have a Cricut, I couldn't resist):

I bought some sheets from Walmart in hot pink and hot green to cover pillows with and am waiting for the back to college sale items to come out so I can get some seating/pillows for my reading corner.  I have been working on other projects, including my classroom library and supply labels.  You'll have to wait until Made it Monday to see those!!! Once I am able to get in my classroom in August, I'll post some more pictures!!

Made it Monday!!!

This is my first attempt at Made it Monday. This was my second week of summer vacation and decided to tackle one of the many projects I want to do.  After seeing a post, somewhere, (sorry I don't remember where) I wanted to make a bin for my new clipboards.  After "divorcing" from my co-teacher of 4 years, I had to order new clipboards and needed a container to put them in.  Since my color scheme is pink, green, and black, I copied the picture I had seen somewhere.
I used the Cricut sticky paper meant for walls since I didn't know what else would be easy and I had some here at home.  Here is my finished project (except I think I might add some ribbon to the side handles):
